Units from Carpark

You have heard much about the redevelopment over many, many months and in particular the frustrations and delays in recent weeks to tick all the boxes before the contracts of sale can be finalised.

There is some good news, in that the electricity meters are scheduled for installation on Saturday (Finally!) and final inspection is lined up for Monday or Tuesday. I encourage you to keep praying as all the delays are having a negative impact on our financial position.

The deacons decided that the solution was to trust God and to look at this as an opportunity to see what he can do through us. With that in mind a letter was written and our Redevelopment Appeal was launched last Sunday.

Letters to congregational members have been gradually distributed through the week. If you have not received one, please let me know, I am aware that we do not have everyone’s details on file.

We know that everyone’s situation is different, but we wanted to provide information to everyone and in doing so, give you and your family a great opportunity to see God work in an amazing way. Please take some time to pray about how much you might contribute, with God’s help.

Our target: $100,000 (gifts) and $250,000 (loans).
To date we have already received promises of $11,500 in gifts, and $12,500 in loans! God is so good.

An indication of your response would be helpful – to do so you can email or complete the online survey here>>>

Sam Bradley writes -“Thank you for the support and donations. It was not easy to step over the ledge. I hadn’t had nerves and butterflies like that since my wedding day.

It was a worthy challenge, and together with about 59 others we raised a combined $100,000 (or just over) that has all gone to medical research here in Tasmania through the Royal Hobart Hospital Research Foundation, supporting local researchers and contributing to real applications and improvements.

Thank you for your generosity.”

operation christmas child, OCC

Operation Christmas Child boxes are again available at the church, for people to take home and fill.

Please ensure you also take a brochure with advice on what can and can’t be included in the box.  It would be wonderful if Hobart Baptist Church could pack a similar number of boxes as in previous years despite COVID-19!

For those of you who are still joining the online service rather than in the Tab, please don’t be put off.  I will endeavor to get a box/es to you if you let me know:

Thanking you in advance, Celia Munro.

Jan and Jit with Anna
Jan and Jit with Anna.

Jan and Jit write from Sydney.

Dear brothers and sisters at Hobart Baptist Church,
We are very thankful for the time we had to visit with you all last year when life was “normal”. How different this year has been !!!

It was great to connect with the Karen congregation there too – Jit really enjoyed his time there too.

We feel very privileged to have you folk as a significant part of our support team. For me, Hobart Baptist will always be my home sending church to the work in Thailand and became home church for Jit and Anna whenever we returned. We are thankful to still feel we “belong” to Tasmanian Baptists as well.
It has been good to join you for some of your Sunday gatherings and to Zoom chat with some. One of the positives in all the issues that COVID-19 has caused.

You’ll see in our thank you letter>>> that we are still here in Sydney but we are looking towards going through all the processes to try to get back to Thailand but still a couple of hold-ups this end.

Grace and peace be yours in abundance (1 Peter 1:2)

Jan and Jit

Please pray that God will:-

Smooth the way so that things that are holding us up will be quickly resolved so we can move forward,
Give us wisdom in decision making and peace of mind for those with responsibilities,
Open doors enabling the church to recover from the effect that Covid-19 has had on the building project,
Help us to be more aware of His presence and His plans for the church in the new facilities
Heal, comfort and strengthen those amongst us who are unwell or struggling with various aspects of their life.

Thank you to all who have been faithfully continuing with regular giving during the current economic climate. Many have been using EFT for some time now, but there are others who have made the switch since we had to close our doors. Your ongoing support i much appreciated.

Now that we are meeting in person again, there is an offering box available for your use as you leave the sanctuary. (A change to the way we do things as a result of COVID-19).
