The Chairman had, prior to elections, informed the meeting of the operational change to managing the finances for 2021. The bookkeeping is to be performed on our behalf by Tas Baptists, and to ensure that this is operation by the time our current treasurer’s term ends, the transition has begun. Tas Baptists do not charge for this service.

The Secretary noted when presenting the new committee members, that it is critical that we rebuild the finance committee, and there is room for more members.

The Reception of the Audited Report and Financial Statements for 1 July 2019-30 June 2020 was deferred to a meeting in December (Date TBC)

The Chairman thanked our Treasurer, Peter Tattam, for his service as Deacon and Treasurer over the past three and one half years, particularly with the extra load of the building project. Josh Lattimore’s contribution as a Deacon for 2 terms was noted with thanks.

General Members’ Meeting Outcomes

A Members’ Meeting followed on after the Annual Members’ Meeting.

Senior Pastor’s Report

We are fortunate to live in Tasmania, and to be able to meet in person.
It is a new world and we can’t go back to the way it was.
Early September marked 10 years since Stephen began his ministry at HBC. Stephen thanked the church for its grace and forgiveness during the 10 year partnership.
Geoffrey Clarke said the church had been fortunate to have Stephen as our Pastor for those 10 years.

Secretary’s Report

The Senior Pastor’s 2 year/mid term review, had been delayed due to extenuating circumstances and would take place very soon.

Treasurer’s Report

Peter thanked everyone for their support.
Our current surplus is $22,000 due to JobKeeper, however this will reduce over the year.
Hiring is increasing as spaces become available.
Peter acknowledged the generosity of those who supported the church financially and those using eft for offerings, encouraging others to do the same.

Quarterly Financial Statements

The treasurer noted that he was unable to complete these ahead of receiving the audited annual report from the Auditor. To be deferred.

Membership Application

Laurie Rowston’s application to transfer his membership back to HBC from Citywide Baptist Church was approved. His passion for Baptist Church history was noted with appreciation.

Building Redevelopment Update

Early Occupancy has been granted to three of the buyers, and they will begin to move in next week.

Frustrations and delays continue due to poor communication and slow progress with sign-off by HCC.

Sales will not be completed by 30 November. Hopefully soon after.

The meeting thanked Antal for his tireless work over the past two years +

Cash flow is a problem at the moment, but we must hold on to God’s vison.

All stage two accounts have been paid. For more details ask the treasurer.

Unfortunately builders will have to stop work until further funds become available.

The meeting was reminded of God’s faithfulness and the importance of showing God’s love through our actions.

The financial contributions to the Building appeal were acknowledged with gratitude and indicated the amazing support for the church at this difficult time.

The development is not about the Building but about our ministry and mission for the future.

If you would like more information, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Heather Galloway, Secretary

Members’ Meetings are held quarterly, and are open to members and non-members alike.

The Members are led by the Deacons, who meet monthly.
