Siebrand signs off after 49 years
Siebrand has been playing the organ at HBC for 49 years!
Those who attended the 10am service last Sunday were privileged to hear Siebrand Petrusma play the organ for the last time as one of HBC’s organists.
Siebrand has served the church faithfully as an organist for nearly 50 years, blessing many people with his playing over that time. The decision to retire is naturally tinged with sadness, both from Siebrand and those who love hearing him play the organ. We all give thanks for the gifts he has shared.
Thank you Siebrand for all those years of loyal service. Have no regrets, you have earnt the right to retire. Your organ playing will be missed.

HBC Futures Evening
What is God putting on your heart to do at HBC?
- Perhaps a ministry to Elizabeth College such as Breakkie or Homework Clubs?
- What about Alpha or the Marriage Course?
- Maybe an activity group for children?
If you missed our HBC Futures evening read the full wrap up, and how to get involved in the next chapter of our HBC story.
The Marriage Course 2022
Would you and your partner like to strengthen your relationship?

The Marriage Course is a series of seven sessions, designed to help couples invest in their relationship and build a strong marriage.
Nicky and Sila Lee, authors of The Marriage Book, developed The Marriage Course for couples looking for practical support to strengthen their relationship. The course is designed to help couples build strong foundations, learn to communicate more effectively and resolve differences well.
If you’re interested in participating in a Marriage Course at HBC in early 2022, please connect with Jo Sinclair, after church or jo_incognito@yahoo.com.au.
She’s keen to know how many takers there would be, and would love to tell you more!
The Empty Christmas Tree

On Sunday 12 December 2021 the church service will include an opportunity to lay a gift under the 72nd Empty Christmas Tree in this church.
You are invited to bring a gift, such as a book, toy, game, clothing, non-perishable food stuff, gift voucher or financial donation to place under the tree.
Gifts can be suitable for all ages and should be new and unwrapped.
All gifts and financial donations will be delivered to Hobart City Mission for distribution.

HBC Youth Fundraiser
HBC Youth are aiming to raise $1800 to support one teacher to teach 20 children for a year in the Karen refugee camp in Thailand. AND we are nearly there!!
The sausage sizzle at the Garage Sale added $175-60, bringing the total raised so far to $1645-75.
Stay tuned to the next fundraising event which will hopefully complete the fundraiser for this year.
Thank you for your support.
The Future with COVID-19

Christmas is coming and the state and national borders are opening up – what will life be like then? What will the new ‘normal’ look like?
Naturally, there are mixed emotions, elation and uncertainty. How are you feeling? How will we cope? It is important to remember that you are not alone in this, God is with us, always.
But it is up to all of us to do our bit to protect ourselves, and the ones we love, and to consider the consequences for others if we don’t. Together we can keep our community and Tassie safe – so I encourage you to:-
- Get vaccinated – If you’re not already, you can book by calling the Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738 or visiting www.coronavirus.tas.gov.au/booking
- If you have any cold or flu-like symptoms, no matter how mild, stay at home and get tested. To organise a test call the Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738 or register at www.coronavirus.tas.gov.au/testing
- Remember to Check In – Everyone over 16 years of age is now required check in whenever they enter the building – Please scan the Check in TAS QR code or sign the attendance sheet.
- Don’t forget the hand sanitiser.
Thank you for your assistance.

GIVING – Your tithes and offerings

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7
We thank all who give faithfully on a regular basis, as without this support we would not be able to operate. Your offerings support our budget: and through that it enables the church to continue to be an important part of the North Hobart landscape and the place from where we can prophetically serve the City of Hobart.
It is where we can know the benefit of worshipping with others, where we hear the stories of Jesus and how they apply to us, where we are encouraged in our journey with Jesus, from where we can share God’s love with others and help them to know and trust in God themselves. Our influence can also be far reaching – there is no limit to God’s love through our deeds and actions. Thank you for your generosity.
EFT is a great way to ensure regular giving and as well there are offering boxes available for use as you leave the Sanctuary.
