Bible Study: The Rest of Life
The Letter to the HEBREWS
WHEN Block Two, 2pm Sundays until 21st Nov
WHERE Soundy Lounge
WHO All welcome. First time? No worries!
The letter to the Hebrews is unique. It gives insights into the life of Jesus that are quite different from anything else in the New Testament. Jesus is acknowledged as Prophet and King, but only in Hebrews is he regarded as a Priest.
All are welcome to join Stephen Baxter and Liam Conway as they lead the study each Sunday until 21 November.
Let’s explore the life and teaching of Jesus from this unique vantage point.

HBC Futures Evening – COME AND BE PART OF THE FUTURE

Thursday 6-9pm,18 November, Soundy Lounge
The future of our church is before us like an open book ready to be written in!
As we navigate our way out of the post-development liminal space we are in, it is important to discern the mind of God for the future of Hobart Baptist church. TOGETHER.
What does your part in HBC’s future look like?
To find out, come along and join in the conversation, as we share ideas and discern God’s calling for us. We are all part of the future and it is an exciting, and, yes, daunting place to be.
A meal will be provided, and there will be activities for the children.
RSVP Monday 15 November for catering
Any questions ahead of time are welcome. I hope to see you there.
Heather Galloway, HBC Secretary
From Jan and Jit Yawan

Dear friends – greetings from our morning view here in Wollongong.
Yes, we are STILL here in Australia. Having dealt with delays because of COVID 19, health issues, awaiting COVID vaccinations, it was starting to look like the way may be clearing for us to head back to Thailand …THEN… NSW went into lockdown and cases of COVID 19 were rapidly increasing in Thailand.
It was not long before cases numbers were on therise in Sangklaburi with everybody into lockdown, village communities were closed off and even the fresh food market closed for a week.

Garage Sale, Saturday 20th November

A church garage sale is on in November to raise funds to fit out our new facilities.
Spring is a great time for cleaning and sorting. As you do, please put aside anything of value for our garage sale.
Hold on to these things for now, and bring them in the week before the sale, 13th November.
More details to follow, but for now it will be held on a Saturday, and will include the ever popular cake stall.
You’re Invited! Saturday 20th November 2021
6:30-8pm Hobart Launch of Tasmania Celebration with Will Graham, 2022
C3 Convention Centre South Hobart

The Future with COVID-19

The snap 3 day lockdown is behind us and we have had a taste of wearing a mask. Not fun! We can breathe a sigh of relief for now, but with the state and national borders opening up soon, what will life be like then?
There are, naturally, mixed emotions, questions and uncertainties as well as lots of different viewpoints. How are you coping? It is important to remember that you are not alone in this, God is with us, always.
But it is up to all of us to do our bit to protect ourselves, and the ones we love, and to consider the consequences for others if we don’t. Together we can keep our community and Tassie safe – so I encourage you to:-
- Get vaccinated – If you’re not already, you can book by calling the Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738 or visiting www.coronavirus.tas.gov.au/booking
- If you have any cold or flu-like symptoms, no matter how mild, stay at home and get tested. To organise a test call the Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738 or register at www.coronavirus.tas.gov.au/testing
- Remember to Check In – Everyone over 16 years of age is now required check in whenever they enter the building – Please scan the Check in TAS QR code or sign the attendance sheet.
- Don’t forget the hand sanitiser.
Thank you for your assistance.

GIVING – Your tithes and offerings

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7
We thank all who give faithfully on a regular basis, as without this support we would not be able to operate. Your offerings support our budget: and through that it enables the church to continue to be an important part of the North Hobart landscape and the place from where we can prophetically serve the City of Hobart.
It is where we can know the benefit of worshipping with others, where we hear the stories of Jesus and how they apply to us, where we are encouraged in our journey with Jesus, from where we can share God’s love with others and help them to know and trust in God themselves. Our influence can also be far reaching – there is no limit to God’s love through our deeds and actions. Thank you for your generosity.
EFT is a great way to ensure regular giving and as well there are offering boxes available for use as you leave the Sanctuary.
