Church Meeting Outcomes

Meeting held after the 10am service, Sunday 31st January 2021

Firstly, there was good news. The separate titles have been issued by the Land Titles Office – news that has been a long time coming! This means that the settlement on the units can now proceed and should be complete by the end of February.

Secondly, the builders have returned to work after Christmas, with a small number of workers, the work is ramping up with the encouraging news that the finances are on their way.

Unfortunately though, despite the good news, the reality of all the delays of getting to where we are now, is that our financial position is not as good as we had hoped it would be. The delays and the extra interest on the loan over the past six months have had a very negative impact.

Despite the generosity of the church people in terms of donations and loans and the hard work by many on the project, too many things have been beyond our control.

In simple terms, to complete the project, retain the unit and repay the loans due, we would need to take out a loan that we cannot afford to pay back.

The following motion was approved.

“In light of the current financial position of the church, the members agree to the sale of the final unit.  In order to meet any shortfall in the finances necessary to complete the redevelopment project and to repay the loans from members, the church members also agree to empower the Finance Committee to negotiate a loan from BFS with final loan approval to be given by the Diaconate”.

We have sought God’s guidance all along; we have our answer. The church is in good spirits, we have supported each other and the project well, and we have much to be thankful for. We will soon have new facilities and we will again be able to meet for coffee, have lunches and so much more in a much more convivial environment. We are called to ministry and it awaits us.

The unit will go on the market next week, so, if you know of anyone who would be interested in buying the unit please let me know ASAP.  We would love to think it was purchased by someone at least known to us.

Any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. Blessings,

Heather Galloway
