EPHESIANS: DOING LIFE TOGETHER
Sermon Series 24 August to 19 October 2025
In this Sermon Series we will work through Ephesians chapter by chapter, exploring the themes and important message of the letter.
What does it look like to do life together with other people? How do we build and nurture strong and healthy communities? In his letter to the Ephesian church, Paul writes about matters such as unity, maturity, collective responsibility, and dealing with difference in a healthy and constructive way.
For our diverse church family, the message of Ephesians is a discussion more relevant than it ever has been. How do we move forward together as a diverse church family – one, but not the same.
MARRIAGE COURSE
The Alpha “Marriage Course” at Hobart Baptist Church is well underway with 13 couples, all at different stages of their marriages, are taking advantage of this opportunity to strengthen their relationship.
Please pray for all the participants as they continue this course on Zoom, and then as they come together again for a Celebration Dessert and Coffee Night – Wednesday, 3 September.

FOSTERING HOPE
Sunday 14 September is Foster Care Sunday – an annual opportunity for churches in Australia to raise awareness about children and young people growing up in care in their communities, celebrating their carers, and encouraging their people to respond.
This year’s video shares the experience of fostering from three teenage boys. We pray that their story gives people a glimpse into foster care from the perspective of youth in care and their new siblings and helps show how you can pray and respond.

Following on from Foster Care Sunday, mentor training will be held. Mentoring is a good introduction to fostering and is valuable way of supporting a child in care. The vision for mentoring is to reflect Christ’s love by walking with kids in care, building hope filled and intentional relationships.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
During 2025, Hobart Baptist Church is again supporting the mission outreach Operation Christmas Child. We will collect donations until September, with a packing day on Saturday 25 October.
HBC will be collecting ‘something special’ during the month of August for the Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes.
Items such as the following are most welcome:
- Sunglasses
- Bangles and necklaces
- Wind-up torches
- Carry bags
- Stickers
- A personal note or photo of yourself
We also accept financial donations to go towards the shipping costs of $12.50 per box.

SCRIPTURE UNION CAMPS
This Spring, SU Australia have two camps for teenagers in Southern Tasmania!
Each of these camps aim to foster connection with others, growth and deepening in faith. I would love to invite you to be a part of sharing these camps with your networks and youth who may be interested in attending.
- GRID Camp: 27-29th September; Orana Camp. This camp is for grades 7-10 and consists of lots of fun challenges, activities, Bible studies, and opportunity to build relationships with other campers.
- Take The Lead: 6-9th October; Spring Beach Youth Camp. This camp is for grades 9-12. It provides opportunities to grow in relationship with God and others, whilst developing leadership skills through practical workshops and challenges.

Youth & Young Adults
The Youth & Young Adults group (aged 16-25) meets on Saturday nights at HBC, 6-7:30pm.

Men’s Discussion Group
You are welcome to join the very lively group of gentlemen who meet at the church on the third Monday (15 Sept) of each month at 10.00am. For further information contact Geoffrey Clarke 03 6244 8838.
Ladies Coffee Morning
Ladies welcome to join the monthly Thursday morning coffee catch ups. These are held on the 2nd Thursday (11th Sept) of the month from 10:30am-12midday at HBC.
Weekly Prayer at HBC
Thursday night prayer time at HBC weekly from 6-7pm at HBC, continues in 2025. Thursdays, 6-7pm at HBC.
This is an opportunity to come together, in prayer, as we seek to discern God’s will for the church in the months and years ahead.

We thank all who give faithfully on a regular basis, as without this support we would not be able to operate. Your offerings support our budget: and through that it enables the church to continue to be an important part of the North Hobart landscape and the place from where we can prophetically serve the City of Hobart.
It is where we can know the benefit of worshipping with others, where we hear the stories of Jesus and how they apply to us, where we are encouraged in our journey with Jesus, from where we can share God’s love with others and help them to know and trust in God themselves. Our influence can also be far reaching – there is no limit to God’s love through our deeds and actions. Thank you for your generosity.
EFT is a great way to ensure regular giving and as well there are offering boxes available for use as you leave the Sanctuary.
