Hobart Baptist Church would not exist without the support and
care of our official membership.

Annual Members’ Meeting – Sunday 24 November 2024

The Hobart Baptist Church Annual Members’ Meeting will be held in the Gibson Hall this Sunday 24 November 2024 following the 10am service and morning tea.

All welcome and encouraged to attend.

This meeting is an important one in the church calendar, as the church prepares for the coming year. Prayerful consideration by the church family regarding the appointments is important.

The following nominations have been received:-

Church Elder – Joel Ortiz

Deacons – 3 year terms: 3 positions available.
David Needham, Sean Priest and Ben Wagner

Officers Bearers – 1 year term:
Secretary – Sean Priest
Assistant Secretary – Joanna Sinclair
Treasurer – Ben Wagner
Assistant Treasurer – No nomination

Leaders for Children’s and Youth Ministries to be confirmed:

  • Boys’ Brigade Captain – Scott Ambrose
  • Boys’ Brigade Chaplain – Kelvin Smith
  • Youth – Scott Ambrose and Kelvin Smith
  • Kids’ Church – Tracy Ortiz

Finance Committee: Ben Wagner, Pilar Florez, Connie Sim, Heather Galloway and William Maguire.

Financial Report and Statements for 1 July 2023 – 30 June 2024 will be presented

Note: All Leaders in the Hobart Baptist Church must have a current Working with Vulnerable People (blue) Card as issued by the Justice Department of the State Government of Tasmania. Any nominee without the Card should have applied for same and cannot take up office until the Card has been issued by the Government and sighted by the Duty of Care Officer.

HBC General Members’ Meeting

A General Members’ Meeting will follow on after the Annual Members Meeting.

Agenda Items will include:

  • Confirmation of Minutes from the Members’ Meetings of 30 June 2024.
  • Associate Pastor’s Report
  • Diaconate Report
  • Treasurer’s Report including the Reception of Financial Statements for 1st Quarter, 2024-2025 FY
  • Applications for Church Membership – Eduar Zapata and Maria del Pilar Florez (Pilar), and Ting Hwee Sim (Connie).

Meeting papers will be circulated closer to the meeting.

Members’ Meetings are held quarterly, and are open to members and non-members alike.

The Members are led by the Deacons, who meet monthly.
