Church Members’ Meeting, Sunday 29 March 2026.


A Church Members Meeting was held on Sunday March 29 in the Soundy Lounge.  Members and non-members alike enjoyed a cuppa and a delicious home-made brownie (thank you Kelvin!) as they reviewed the 141st edition of the Annual Report. 

This year’s edition was prepared by Heather Galloway, Kelvin Smith and Hyland Smith, and was a wonderful acknowledgement of the diversity and life in the church, even during challenging and uncertain times.

In addition to the presentation of the Annual Report, Karen and Joseph Webster were welcomed into membership and Paul Turner’s considerable contribution to the Music Ministry as church organist was acknowledged. 

Members unanimously agreed that Connie Sim be accepted into the role of Assistant Treasurer.  The financial report was circulated but the formal presentation of the report was deferred until a member of the finance committee was available to respond to members’ questions and comments.

The meeting provided an opportunity for healthy discussion about some of the current challenges and changes we are experiencing within Hobart Baptist Church.  This included changes (and opportunities) within church leadership and the Diaconate, supporting the health of our leaders and news on the anticipated report from the recent Church Review.

Members’ Meetings are held quarterly, and are open to members and non-members alike.

The Members are led by the Deacons, who meet monthly.
