The Gratitude Effect

Sundays 27 September to 25 October

A lifestyle of gratitude energises us. It replaces hurt, resentment and anger with peace, joy and hope. The Gratitude Effect explores this life-changing power.

We begin by considering our unique place within our family, our church, our community and the wider world. How do we see ourselves in light of all God has given us? Do we think of ourselves as rich or poor, weak or strong, fortunate or deprived?

We then rediscover the marvel of God’s creation, from the beauty of the natural world to the intricate wonder and design of the human body. We then reflect on the countless discoveries, inventions, and sacrifices made by millions of people across the centuries. As we recognise God’s grace through those who have gone before us, we realise we are surrounded by reasons for gratitude every day, from cars and hot water to modern homes, warmth, and countless everyday comforts.

The series reaches its pinnacle in the greatest reason for gratitude of all: the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Through His life, death, and resurrection, we receive forgiveness, hope, and eternal life and ultimate rest and joy and hope. Yet Christ’s desire is not only that we be grateful to God, but that our gratitude overflows to one another, to the one who listens, the one who gives, the one who cares and the one who helps. Throughout this series Gratitude for God and for one another is shown as a powerful force that energises our lives, deepens our relationships, strengthens our churches and communities, and blesses our state, our nation and our world, transforming us from the inside out.
