MINISTRY REVIEW 2026 – IT’S ON!

The HBC leadership has invited Tas Baptists to help us discern where we’re heading as a church. This is an opportunity to highlight what we love about HBC, and speak into where we are going.

We want as many people as possible to be part of this process. The review includes a general survey that anyone who is part of HBC can complete. The survey is available online HERE or use the QR code, at right.
Paper copies will be available from Kelvin Smith on Sunday 1 March. Or if you would like help to do it online, Kelvin can help you that morning, before or after the service.
Join a Comment Group on Saturday 7 March. Comment Groups are an opportunity to listen to one another’s reflections on HBC, to broaden perspective beyond your own. These groups will have a maximum number of participants. To sign up, use the sign-up sheet available on Sunday 1 March. (Or reply to the email sent on Tuesday 24 February.)
THANK YOU!

Your support truly makes a difference.
UPDATE FROM JAN YAWAN

Very dear friends at Hobart Baptist Church.
You have truly been my/our church family since you commissioned me to head off to Thailand almost 49 years ago. I have been so thankful to know your love and support since that time …
How special it was to send off the first group of Karen refugees from the camp very close to us in Thailand to our church family in Hobart Baptist. You graciously welcomed them to their new church home there.
I look forward to catching up when I can make a trip to Tassie …

FOSTERING HOPE MENTOR TRAINING
Mentoring program for children in care
Fostering Hope’s Mentoring Program seeks to match adults with young people between 7 and 12 years old in care. Mentors are people who choose to spend time with a young person, invest in them, and be an extra support in their life. For children growing up in care, they also are someone who isn’t paid to look after them!
Mentoring is powerful for people of all ages, experience and research shows that mentoring has incredible potential to help people grow and reach their full potential.
If you think this might be something you can do, or if you would like to find out more please get in touch with Ellie and the Mentoring Team, come to an introductory session or training day, or you can apply to become a mentor.
MUST SEE: Mum I See War EXHIBITION
In the Soundy Lounge
The mission is to offer new perspectives on armed conflict worldwide through the eyes of children who endure it and provide opportunities for individuals to take action to change the future of those children living through war today.
See all the devastating artwork in the Soundy Lounge, and weep.

TITHES, GIFTS AND OFFERINGS

‘Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.’
2 Corinthians 9:7
We thank all who give faithfully on a regular basis, as without this support we would not be able to operate. Your offerings support our budget: and through that it enables the church to continue to be an important part of the North Hobart landscape and the place from where we can prophetically serve the City of Hobart.
It is where we can know the benefit of worshipping with others, where we hear the stories of Jesus and how they apply to us, where we are encouraged in our journey with Jesus, from where we can share God’s love with others and help them to know and trust in God themselves. Our influence can also be far reaching – there is no limit to God’s love through our deeds and actions. Thank you for your generosity.
EFT is a great way to ensure regular giving and as well there are offering boxes available for use as you leave the Sanctuary.
