MONEY MATTERS
March 16 – April 13

The new Sermon Series: Money Matters begins today.
God has created a world in which money is a key element. How do we think about and manage our finances – and other resources – in a way that is God honouring?
As followers of Jesus, do we need to find ways to be counter-cultural both in our thinking and our behaviour with regard to money?
Together, we are going to explore these questions – and others – to work through how God intends us to think about our money and resources. We are going to look at the teachings of Jesus regarding money and resources, and ask the question; “If he’s serious about this, how do we respond?”

CONSITUTION UPDATE

Thank you to those members of our church congregation who have provided feedback on the HBC Constitution. At the last Deacons’ meeting, a second draft was presented to the deacons and approved for referral to the Church Meeting at the end of this month.
Whilst a number of changes involve simply standardising and updating aspects of the document, some significant changes have been recommended for consideration, including the provision of an alternative pathway to membership recognition, membership processes for retiring ministers (and their spouse), reduction in the minimum age of deacons (18 years), increase of the consideration time for constitutional changes (three weeks from seven days), and clarification of the membership requirements of key finance committee members.
Copies of the draft constitution are available upon request.

NAME BADGES

There have been several requests to please Bring back the name badges!
To help us all learn the names of those we don’t know and to aid the memory recalling those we do, we are reintroducing and encouraging the use of name badges on Sunday mornings.
The name tags will be your property, we will not be using the board as we used to.
If you would like a name badge, please ask the welcomers, Celia and Karen, or myself.
PLEASE NOTE: The magnets that hold the badges in place contain small parts that are dangerous for children. Please be vigilant, and do no not allow little people to play with them.

Volunteers wanted!

We are looking for a volunteer, or two or three, to assist with the weekly task of putting out the Church Wheelie Bins for collection, and bringing them back in afterwards.
Do you pass the church on your way to or from work and would be prepared to stop and do this very simple, but necessary task?
Out Tuesday afternoon/evening and back in Wednesday morning.
If so, please talk to Matt Henderson, David Needham or Heather Galloway.

TITHES, GIFTS AND OFFERINGS

‘Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.’
2 Corinthians 9:7
We thank all who give faithfully on a regular basis, as without this support we would not be able to operate. Your offerings support our budget: and through that it enables the church to continue to be an important part of the North Hobart landscape and the place from where we can prophetically serve the City of Hobart.
It is where we can know the benefit of worshipping with others, where we hear the stories of Jesus and how they apply to us, where we are encouraged in our journey with Jesus, from where we can share God’s love with others and help them to know and trust in God themselves. Our influence can also be far reaching – there is no limit to God’s love through our deeds and actions. Thank you for your generosity.
EFT is a great way to ensure regular giving and as well there are offering boxes available for use as you leave the Sanctuary.
