Unstoppable
The Book of Acts
Sundays 7 June to 19 July
From the very beginning the first churches faced difficulties and obstacles of every kind. But they became unstoppable!
Some wounded believers deeply, and some caused lasting damage, yet none were able to stop the advance of the Gospel or the work of Christ’s Spirit. From Jerusalem to Judea and Samaria, through Syria, Galatia, Macedonia and Achaia, and finally to the centre of the known world — Rome — the message of Jesus continued to spread. From there, it reached every corner of the earth.
In this series we identify the types of obstacles the first century church faced, how the churches navigated those obstacles and how the gospel continued to progress beyond them. We will also ask: What can we learn from this unstoppable movement of God’s Spirit? And how might 21st-century churches — often feeling weak or uncertain in the face of rapid cultural change — once again become communities marked by courage, resilience, and unstoppable mission?
