Welcome to the FAMILY

A Study in 1st and 2nd Thessalonians
Sundays 26 July to 6 September
Submitting to Christ as Lord is the beginning of a lifelong journey of discipleship. As followers of Jesus, we are called to grow in our understanding of the gospel and to bring our attitudes, habits and daily lives into harmony with it. This process of growth is not always easy, but God has given us His Word, His Spirit, and His people to help us mature in faith.
In this series, we will explore Paul’s letters to the Thessalonian church. Written when this young church was less than a year old, perhaps only a few months old, these letters reveal Paul’s deep desire to see new believers firmly grounded in Christ. Throughout 1 and 2 Thessalonians, Paul:
- Encourages believers to continue faithfully in Christ.
- Clarifies key truths of the gospel.
- Reminds them that hardship and persecution are part of the Christian life.
- Strengthens their connection with Christian leaders and one another.
- Addresses practical issues of discipleship, including holiness, hope, work, and daily conduct.
Paul’s goal was to see this young church grow to maturity in Christ, rooted in the gospel both in belief and in practice. That remains God’s desire for every church today. We will explore how we can have this purpose for our congregation at Hobart Baptist Church.
