Special Members’ Meeting Outcome

A special church Members’ meeting was held following the 10am service last Sunday 30 January 2022 to consider a recommendation from the Diaconate regarding the appointment of a part time Associate Pastor.

The Secretary outlined the process for advertising the position and the steps leading up to the interview, and ultimately bringing the recommendation that was before the meeting. Scott Ambrose, Chair of Deacons, gave a brief overview of the candidates background and the call as Matt relayed it. Stephen Baxter, Senior Pastor outlined Matt’s strengths as he saw them and what he thought he would bring to the church and the possible role he would fulfill.

There were a number of questions which were answered and voting by members was by ballot.

The meeting overwhelmingly agreed “To Extend a call to Matthew Henderson as part time Associate Pastor at Hobart Baptist Church, 2 days per week, commencing on 7 February 2022”. The call is to be for a period of 2 years in the first instance, with the possibility of an extension. There will be a review after 6 months, and annually thereafter.

We look forward to welcoming Matt and Kylie and their boys to HBC this Sunday ahead of the Induction Service the following Sunday, 13 February 2022. Matt and Kylie will also be welcomed into membership of HBC, their membership being transferred from Citywide Baptist Church.

We look forward to seeing what God will do at HBC in and through the work of Matt and Kylie. They both have a heart for ministry and can’t wait to serve Him in the City of Hobart, in and through Hobart Baptist.
