GROWING PEOPLE SERMON SERIES

Following on from the Great Road Trip, our next series is called “Growing People: Learning to Live Like Jesus in Hobart.”
Jesus spent a lot of time with his disciples teaching, demonstrating and living the Kingdom of God.

In this series, we return to the gospel of Luke and touch on key moments when Jesus taught his disciples the specifics of what the Kingdom means for practical, everyday living. Join us in walking with the disciples as we continue learning how to live like Jesus in Hobart. For more details, click here.

SPECIAL CHURCH MEMBERS’ MEETING

A brief meeting will be held in the Tab after the 10am Service on Sunday 7 May.

Recent issues with the sound desk leave us no option but to purchase a new sound desk. As this is an unbudgeted item, approval for expenditure of church funds from Church Members is required.

Planning is ongoing for the development of our facilities to make them fit for purpose. To this end, quotes for new doors are currently being sought, and will be presented to the meeting for discussion along with their priority and possible financing options.

CHRISTMAS CAROLS IN THE TAB, 23 JUNE

Item submissions wanted!

HBC’s Luminous Festival is a mid-winter arts festival with a vision to engage with our city in a distinctive way that meets our vision of prophetically serving Hobart. It’s designed to deliberately position the church on the fringe of the Dark Mofo and engage in a dialogue about ‘light’ and ‘dark.’

During the festival, we celebrate Christmas within its original context of the dark, cold of winter. This enables us to engage in the rich themes of light and hope, which often go missing in our summer celebrations.

This year, HBC will hold its Luminous Christmas Carols service on Friday, 23 June, 7-9pm.

We are inviting creative performances for the carols service. This is an ideal opportunity to tell the Christmas story in a fresh way!

If you are interested in performing or joining a group to perform, please speak to Matt Henderson or email info@hobartbaptist.org.au about your idea before Sunday 7 May 2023 (only two weeks away)!

GIVING – Your tithes and offerings

‘Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.’
2 Corinthians 9:7

We thank all who give faithfully on a regular basis, as without this support we would not be able to operate. Your offerings support our budget: and through that it enables the church to continue to be an important part of the North Hobart landscape and the place from where we can prophetically serve the City of Hobart.

It is where we can know the benefit of worshipping with others, where we hear the stories of Jesus and how they apply to us, where we are encouraged in our journey with Jesus, from where we can share God’s love with others and help them to know and trust in God themselves. Our influence can also be far reaching – there is no limit to God’s love through our deeds and actions. Thank you for your generosity.

EFT is a great way to ensure regular giving and as well there are offering boxes available for use as you leave the Sanctuary.
