Church Members’ Meeting – 26 June 2022
The next Church Members’ Meeting will be held this Sunday, 26 June in the Gibson Hall around midday.
All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Agenda Items will include:
- Confirmation of Minutes from the Members’ Meeting of 27 March 2022
- Senior Pastor’s Report
- Secretary’s Report
- Treasurer’s Report including:-
- Reception of Financial Statements for 1 July 2021 – 31 March 2022
- Reception of Draft Budget for 1 July 2022 – 30 June 2023
There are also 2 recommendations from the Diaconate:-
Recommendation re appointment of an auditor.
As provided in the amended Constitution, and being duly satisfied that the terms of the amended Constitution are complied with (that the Church’s revenue is less than $250,000 and the internal control of finances are such that fraudulent or dishonest conduct by an office bearer is not possible), the Diaconate recommends to this Members’ Meeting that “An auditor not be appointed for the current financial year”.
Recommendation re extension of the Senior Pastor’s call.
Stephen Baxter has been serving at Hobart Baptist for almost 12 years, initially as interim minister for one year and subsequently as Senior Minister. Stephen currently works two days per week for Hobart Baptist Church, balanced with his service as Mission Director with Tas Baptists. Stephen’s current term runs until 31 August 2022.
After undertaking an internal Senior Pastor’s review early in 2021, followed by a review on the pastoral leadership of the church as a whole late in 2021, which led to the appointment of an Associate Pastor, and a further internal review in May this year, the Diaconate brings the following recommendation to the Meeting:-
“The Church members approve a four-year extension (2+2) of Stephen Baxter’s appointment as Senior Minister of Hobart Baptist Church, 2 days per week, until 1st September 2026, subject to a mutually satisfactory review in the second year of this extension (to be completed prior to 31st August 2024)”.
