New Sermon Series – Next Steps

Next Steps:2024 & Beyond

Hobart Baptist Church has been a community occupying a liminal space for a period of time. The renovation of the building appears to have provided us with a marker for the ‘end’ of a season in the life of this church community, however a clear ‘new thing’ has not yet fully emerged.

We are presented with exciting opportunities in 2024 through what has already started. We are not at the beginning of the journey, instead we are already on our way.

FUNDRAISER – CHURCH KITCHEN UPGRADE

We are looking forward to upgrading the church kitchen to commercial standard. This will enable us to fully utilise our facilities, not only for our own church family, but also to better serve the community.

Esteem coffee

Kelvin’s vision is to make the church kitchen available to individuals or groups to produce food for distribution or for sale, either as one-off or as semi-regular events.

To date $1,500 has been raised towards the estimated cost of around $3,500. Donations to date total $950. Thank you!

Another Sausage Sizzle and Christmas Goodies trade table will be held in early December – date TBA. It is not too soon to plan your Christmas baking.

Donations can be placed in an offering box on Sunday (in an envelope suitably marked) or transferred directly to the Church Bank Account with the reference ‘Kitchen Upgrade’. For more information chat with Kelvin or Heather.

SAFE CHURCH TRAINING

For those still needing to do the training, there is an opportunity to do so, on Saturday 16 December from 11am – 2:00pm.

It is imperative that everyone at HBC who works with children or vulnerable people and ALL leaders within the church have complete the Safe Church Training by the end of the year.
Leaders include: Pastors, Deacons, Kid’s Church and Youth leaders, those involved in the 10am service on a regular basis (those who sing, play instruments, read the Bible, pray, lead the service, welcome people, serve morning tea, and also extends to the Karen community, Vietnamese fellowship… pretty much everyone within the church!

Please talk to Matt or Heather Galloway if you still need this training or have any questions.

GIVING – YOUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS

‘Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.’
2 Corinthians 9:7

We thank all who give faithfully on a regular basis, as without this support we would not be able to operate. Your offerings support our budget: and through that it enables the church to continue to be an important part of the North Hobart landscape and the place from where we can prophetically serve the City of Hobart.

It is where we can know the benefit of worshipping with others, where we hear the stories of Jesus and how they apply to us, where we are encouraged in our journey with Jesus, from where we can share God’s love with others and help them to know and trust in God themselves. Our influence can also be far reaching – there is no limit to God’s love through our deeds and actions. Thank you for your generosity.

EFT is a great way to ensure regular giving and as well there are offering boxes available for use as you leave the Sanctuary.
